Pacific Ocean

On Yap island in the Pacific Ocean, giant wheel-shaped stones called "Fei" served as currency. One familys ancestor lost an enormous Fei to a storm while transporting it by canoe, but fellow travelers testified to its existence, so the stone retained its value at the bottom of the sea.

In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, between Hawaii and Mexico, lies a zone called the 'White Shark Café.' Great white sharks swim for a month each year to gather here. Satellite images show an oceanic desert, but it is actually an oasis teeming with over 100 species of deep-sea life.

Whales typically vocalize at 12–25Hz, but since the 1980s, a whale singing at 52Hz has been detected in the Pacific Ocean. It calls at a frequency no other whale uses, earning the name 'the loneliest whale.' It has never been seen—only its voice was recorded.
