Hawaiian pizza

Hawaiian pizza was invented not in Hawaii but in Canada, by a Greek immigrant. In 1962, Sam Panopoulos topped a pizza with canned pineapple in Ontario, inspired by sweet-and-sour Chinese cooking. He named it after a pineapple brand—so it has nothing to do with Hawaii.
