Beetle

Stenocara, a beetle from the Namib Desert, collects drinking water from fog. Its wing covers mix water-attracting bumps, where droplets grow, with water-repelling channels that guide them to its mouth. Described in Nature in 2001, the structure inspired biomimetic fog collectors.

Scientists sometimes name newly discovered species after their favorite celebrities. There is a fern named after BLACKPINK's Lisa, a bug after Lionel Messi, a lizard after Barack Obama, and a beetle after Leonardo DiCaprio.

In 1980s Australia, male beetles were found mating with beer bottles. The brown color, size, and bumps on the bottles mimicked female beetles, acting as a "supernormal stimulus." When this threatened the species, Australian breweries redesigned their bottles, removing the bumps.
