K2-18b
K2-18b is an Exoplanet orbiting the red dwarf K2-18 about 120 light-years away in the direction of Leo. It is classified as a sub-Neptune, larger than Earth but smaller than Neptune.
In 2025, K2-18b's atmosphere seemed to show dimethyl sulfide — a gas only Earth's marine life produces — hailed as a possible sign of alien life. Independent reanalyses later found the signal was statistical noise, not a real biosignature.
